Avoiding Ads for Just Page Likes

Most of our clients come to us looking for real monetary results from their marketing efforts. As a result, we find that it rarely makes sense to advertise on Facebook for the purpose of increasing likes alone. Instead, the overwhelming majority of the campaigns we run focus on driving traffic to our clients websites where they can capture and monetize the traffic. In some rare cases, certain companies will want to do branding campaigns on Facebook with the focus of just gaining more exposure in the region, but we find that most of our clients are looking for more immediate results so we tend to focus on using ads to drive traffic directly to our clients’ websites. The truth is that in the Middle East likes are cheap. Many people will like a brand’s Facebook page with no intent of ever buying or engaging with that brand beyond a superficial level.

Is Facebook Advertising Worth It In The Arab World?

One of the common questions asked “is Facebook advertising worth it in the Arab world?” In many cases the answer is – “definitely!” Facebook advertising in the Middle East is often times much less costly than it is in Europe or the Americas. To add to this, Arabs tend to share more on Facebook than many other demographic group online. This allows us to target them more effectively and on a more granular level because we have more data about them. This means we can avoid wasting money targeting demographics that are not relevant to your business and focus your ads and budget on demographics that are highly interested in products or services similar to yours.

Facebook Advertising Best Practices

Facebook Advertising Best Practices

IstiZada understands that it can be hard to trust another company with your advertising efforts on Facebook. In light of this, we think it’s important that you understand our best practices for advertising on Facebook, so you get an idea that our strategy is in line with your goals. Our best practices include the following:

  1. Testing multiple demographics that could resonate with your product or service
  2. Using ads that are tailored to each demographic
  3. Using calls to action in ads to drive users to your landing page
  4. Continuous testing and adaptation
  5. Rewarding ads that perform well with more budget
  6. Pausing poorly performing ads
  7. Adaptation of messaging to get even better results

These are just some of our best practices, but if you would like to contact us below we can provide further details on the tactics we use for advertising to Arabs speakers on Facebook.

Arabic Facebook Advertising Cost

Not sure about the cost of Facebook advertising in the Arab world? Since prices are constantly changing it’s hard to give you an exact estimate of how much it costs to advertise in Arabic on Facebook at any given time. When this article was first published in October 2015 we had some campaigns running at a cost per click of $.04 while others were as high as $.18 per click. However, the market has surely changed since then. With that said, for many industries, advertising in Arabic on Facebook is much cheaper than advertising in English on Facebook. Facebook Ads Vs Promoted Posts

In general we tend to use Facebook dark post ads or Facebook unpublished posts for the majority of our advertising efforts. This specific ad format allows us to target new individuals who haven’t liked your Facebook page and narrow in on specific demographics. Also since the ad is in a post format that takes up a large portion of the screen on the user’s device it makes it very likely that the user is going to see and recognize our ad. In addition to posts we typically recommend to most clients that they also use Facebook remarketing ads, which allow them to show their message again to individuals who have visited their website and have shown an interest in their product or service. In general we find that if sidebar ads aren’t used for the purpose of remarketing they will likely not be as effective as the post ads that show up in the new feed.

Running Arabic Instagram Ads through Facebook’s Ad Platform

Since Instagram Ads can be run directly through the Facebook ad platform, IstiZada considers running Instagram ads the same service as running Facebook ads. Despite this, we find that as Facebook is losing popularity with some demographics in the Arab world, Instagram is growing. We have all the same targeting options on Instagram so for certain demographics Instagram ads will be more effective.
